Past Continuous Tense
The past continuous tense denotes an action that was going on at some time in the past.We will learn about past continuous tense uses and examples.

Singular Plural In this past continuous tense if the subject is singular then used
I was taking We were taking form of to be is used and add ing to the verb.But, if subject
You were taking You were taking is plural, form of to be is used and add ing to the verb.
He was taking They were taking (forms of to be-was/were)
She was taking
It was takingRule:- Subject+was/ were+Verb+ing+Object
Eg: Geeta was singing a song.
Uses of past contiunous tense:
a) To denote an action going on at some time in the past.
Eg: 1) There was a knock on the door, when I was resting. 2)When I was eating, he was talking.
b) To express repeated / habitual action.
Eg: 1) When I worked here, I was always making mistakes. 2) Meena was always talking.

1. I was standing in a queue.
2. You were reading a book.
3. We were going.
4. He was listening to the news.
5. She was sitting in the garden.
6. I was solving the problems in Maths.
7. The dogs were continually barking.
8. A light wind was blowing.
9. We were staying in Pune those days.
10. They were studying in social science.
